Frequently Asked Questions
What methods of payment are possible?
We accept check (cheque), credit card or PayPal.
Any of the affordable Small Business web design
packages can be purchased directly on the web
site by clicking the PayPal button.
Do you need a domain name before you can start designing a web site?
No. Our web design environment allows us to
design and publish a site in one of temporary
URLs. However, before your site can go officially
live, you will need to have a registered domain
name through an accredited domain registrar.
What is Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and why is it important?
The definition of SEO, as provided by
www.Wikipedia.org,
is “the
process of improving the volume and quality of
traffic to a web site from search engines via
"natural" ("organic" or "algorithmic") search
results.” Typically, the higher a web site ranks
or the earlier it appears in the search engine
results the more visitors will actually visit the
web site. Search Engine Optimization should be a
part of most businesses marketing strategy.
Do we have to host our site with makeWAVES Communications?
No. We offer web hosting as an optional service
for our customers. A customer can select another
hosting provider. If the web design project is a
redesign of an existing site, we will simply
publish the new site to the original hosting
provider’s server.
Who provides the content?
The majority of the time our clients provide the
content for their web site. The reason for this
is because this is your business and area of
expertise, and because it will save you
additional costs. We do edit all content for
spelling and grammar. Plus, we provide assistance
with optimizing content for Search Engine
Optimization (SEO). If a client needs help in
writing content, we will provide that service on
a per hour basis.
Who provides the images and graphics for the web site?
Either the client or makeWAVES Communications can
provide any graphics or images on the web site.
We need to work with quality, high resolution
digital images in order to deliver a high quality
finished design. Sometimes we work with a
client’s images and make them “web ready” using
our design tools. For example, one of the web
page design features we can provide is an album
using images or graphics. See Our Work for an
example of a design using photo images provided
by a client.
